Dongsoo Cha

VIOLINIST

Currently based in Campbell, California, violinist Dongsoo Cha earned his Master of Music from Yale University under the guidance of Syoko Aki, and his Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern California, where he studied with Glenn Dicterow, the former Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. Dongsoo has further enriched his musical journey through international studies in South Korea and Austria, gaining a global perspective on diverse approaches to both musicality and technique.

Dongsoo's artistic evolution has been influenced by a roster of accomplished mentors, including Daniel Ching, Zhao Wei, and Brian Lewis. His commitment to musical excellence is reflected in his remarkable competition achievements, winning prizes in prestigious events such as the Austin Symphony Concerto Competition, the Pearl Amster Concerto Competition, the Texas Association of Symphony Orchestras Juanita Miller Concerto Competition, and the Yale Chamber Music Competition, as well as performances with both the Austin Civic and Austin Symphony Orchestras.

Beyond formal education and competitions he has also participated in renowned festivals such as the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Luzerne Music Center, and the PyeongChang Music Festival and School. In addition to his passion for the violin, Dongsoo finds joy in diverse hobbies, including the culinary arts, golfing, and delving into software projects.
